Endodontic Retreatment Process
Consultation
During your consultation, our expert endodontist will thoroughly examine your tooth and evaluate the need for retreatment. This will involve reviewing your dental history and taking 3-dimensional imaging of your tooth to accurately diagnose the disease.
Root Canal Filling Removal and Disinfection
Using precise techniques and advanced equipment, we will carefully remove the existing root canal filling and address any issues that may have arisen since the previous treatment. The canals will then be thoroughly disinfected and a medicated paste will be placed into the canals to help eliminate any bacteria still present. This typically will remain inside the tooth for 1-4 weeks.
Refilling the Root Canal
Once the tooth is adequately disinfected, you will return to the office for our endodontist to place the new root canal filling material within the canals. We will also place a temporary restorative material within your tooth until you are able to follow up with your general dentist.
